002 . : Okumura Yukio [VIDEO]

[Yukio’s centered in the feed, having turned the camera on purposely this time. He’s wearing the same black uniform jacket that he arrived in, but there are dark circles forming beneath his eyes that weren’t there a few days ago. Not that he was sleeping terribly well before his arrival in Nesreca (or... ever, really), but the sudden relocation has been exceedingly stressful for him.

He’s smiling, though. Now that he’s had a chance to acclimate it’s time for some more questions, and there’s no reason to be unpleasant about it.]

I’m curious to know just what assets we have to work with in this place. I understand that food and supplies are difficult to come by, so I would appreciate some more information about Credinta, as well as what may be available on this side of the river.

[His expression turns a bit more serious.]

For those of you who have been trapped here longer... Have any of you encountered either Libitina or her master in person?

[Rin sits on the floor not far from Yukio with Blacky. Since they're alone at the moment he's not bothering to hide his tail and it's twitching back and forth behind him.]

What are ya plannin'? Don't think ya can run off and leave me outta it.

I'm not going to "run off". [Because with his luck Rin will burn the building down while he's away.]

We need to learn more about Libitina. She can't possibly be a ghost as we know them, but there still might be something we can do if we can learn enough about her.

Everyone else thinks she's one. How're we supposed ta learn about her when they haven't been able to figure out much and some of them have been here a year?

[He scratches at his head and his tail moves more agitatedly in quick little flicks.]

I have not been here long enough to acquire any information, regrettably.

I would not call it strange. Curious as in an interesting question that was raised.

I assume most interactions are through video, but personal encounters are the quickest way to gather information on exactly what we're dealing with.

[Have that smile mirrored back at you, and though the face it's set in looks a bit more worn than it was the last time they spoke, Allen's posture is attentive, his grey eyes alert. Add in the determined set of his shoulders, and he gives off the impression of someone who is ready.]

I'm not sure what you'll consider an asset, but we have a generator on the fifth floor and there's fish to be had in the river. There's also a water wheel further upstream that we may be able to harness, whether as an alternative source of energy or as part of a water pumping system. Although wildlife is scarce, I've been told hunting — or at least snaring — is worth a try too.

[A pause to rack his memory.]

I'm not entirely sure what you've already been told about Credinta, so could you tell me what sort of information you're after?

As for Libitina, I've only spoken to her through the network. [ Sometimes extensively, with very little to show for it. ] We've all met—[ the taut distaste with which he speaks that word suggests it was hardly a pleasant experience ]—her master, though. Just once, and briefly.

[He nods, listening carefully and filing that information away in his mind. He'll probably go back over this conversation later and jot a few things down, but for now he's more interesting in finding out just how much information Allen can give him.

All these things sound like wonderful assets... that Yukio has no experience in handling. Snaring and fishing he could probably manage on this own, though.]

Do we have anyone here have an experience with such things? The generator and water wheel, I mean.

[He thinks for a moment.] Who's in charge and how the government works, as well as security measures.

Hmm. [Now this is the information Yukio really wanted.] Can you describe the experience for me? What it looked and felt like? Did it speak or have an distinguishing abilities?

Moderately? Karkat knows how to build the water system, and the generator's easy enough to—[ ...turn on ]—use, but we've only made marginal progress with it.

[It goes without saying that the lack of tools and materials is a problem too.]

Credinta is headed by a mayor, though I'm sure he can't be the only one governing a city of that size. He seems very determined to keep us out. The one time he made an appearance, I tried speaking to him but never received a reply. As for their security measures, I see Karkat's already given you a summary.

[ frowning now ] We woke up to him standing by our bedsides a few months ago. [ Lovely, that. ] He didn't say a thing, just disappeared before anyone could do anything. As you've already heard, he—[ that taut quality to his voice is back in full force ]—murdered someone as an example, then took away our ability to speak for a week. We couldn't type on the communicators either.

[Well, that cuts out any hope of possible cooperation. And, y'know, he possibility of arrest and imprisonment. Definitely don't want that.]

Karkat will be the one with the broken caps lock, then...

[They're wearing matching frowns now. Yukio is absolutely convinced that this 'master' can't possibly be a ghost.]

Because the more we know about them, the more likely it is that we'll be able to determine just what they are and how to put an end to this.
